Tuesday’s should honestly be cancelled for eternity. Nothing exciting ever happens on a Tuesday at work, so here is some sports news from last night to spark the water cooler talk.

College Football

Yesterday, ESPN wrote an article looking at a list of high impact transfers in college football. Being a primarily Big 10 focused blog, here is who should make an instant impact the league:

  • Shea Patterson, Michigan – Patterson transferred late last year and was among the 6 Ole Miss transfers able to immediately play this season. Michigan lacked strength at the QB position last fall and Patterson brings the necessary talent to make the Wolverines an instant competitor.
  • Brandon Dawkins, Indiana – Dawkins started for Arizona, before losing his spot to up and comer Khalil Tate. As a graduate transfer, Dawkins should be able to compete for the starting spot at Indiana. He is a dual threat QB that makes plays on his feet, but he is turn over prone, throwing 10 interceptions in 17 games. Peyton Ramsey is definitely the front runner for the Hoosiers but Dawkins brings competition and experience to elevate the entire QB group.
  • Minnesota and Illinois are in need for graduate transfers, with red shirt sophomores with limited playing time at the #1 spot. There is still time to add graduate transfers to create competition, so stay tuned.

In other news Syracuse has announces a $118 million dollar renovation for the Carrier Dome. This would include a new permanent roof for the dome among other additions to the amenities in the arena. The new dome will also include a moving jumbotron to move to the side for basketball games.

NFL

Eli Manning’s fraud case hearing started yesterday, in what is one of the weirdest cases over. ICYMI, Manning was found to be colluding to sell 2 non-game-worn helmets as game worn helmets, something the NFL’s expressly prohibits. Honestly, I wouldn’t know the difference between the two. For expert collectors, this may matter, but the value only matters if you resell it. But to normal guys like me, a seller could throw a helmet I bought from Ali Express in a glass case for all I care and call it game worn and wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. Honestly I don’t understand who cares so much to take the case to court. Whoever that is should be held to the same standard as the grown adults that stand in line for autographs.

In other news, after much contention, David Tepper has purchased the Carolina Panthers for $2.1 – $2.5 billion. The Panthers were on sale last year after sexual assault allegations against owner Jerry Richardson. P-Diddy, Colin Kaepernick and Steph Curry are officially no longer possible suitors for the team.
